The word Extreme sets the adrenaline gushing for most games. Innumerable games have been re-launched after sprucing them up and adding the word Extreme after the game title. Space Invaders Extreme is another one of them.

We all recollect Space Invaders. The players move their roving cannon and fire at the waves of invaders. The waves keep getting faster and faster. There are no smart bombs and power-ups to move things faster. While retaining its originality the Space Invaders Extreme has given a fresh look to the game.

UFOs flying on the top trigger bonus rounds. If you are good and shoot down all the UFOs or 15 enemies in 10 seconds, your cannon enters a powerful mode. Boss Invaders have weak points which a player has to seek to destroy them. As you keep scoring invader kills your points keep increasing.

Two versions, DS and PSP have identical game play and similar graphics with subtle differences. PSP’s visuals are a bit fancier and the entire game can be seen on one screen where as in the DS version the game extends upwards in a second screen. The DS version permits online play. Both versions permit multiplayer play.
